Join us for a

35th Anniversary Celebration and Dialogue on

THE CONFESSION OF 1967

"To Be Reconciled To God Is To Be Sent
Into The World As
God’s Reconciling Community." [9.31]

Sponsored by

The Executive Committee of The Witherspoon Society

WHEN: Saturday May 4, 2002
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

WHERE: Davis Community Church, 412 C Street, Davis, CA

Please join us for a 35th anniversary celebration and dialogue on the Confession of 1967, a confession rich in the spirit of social justice and reconciliation. The Witherspoon Society is focusing on the Confession's challenge and relevance to the issues facing our church today. Building on a national conference held in February, the Society is now sponsoring regional workshops across the country to further reflect on this vital document of our tradition. Attendees will be challenged to consider how progressive Presbyterians can reclaim confessionally the denomination's social justice agenda.

Keynote speaker will be the Reverend Jim Kitchens, co-pastor of Davis Community Church, who received his Master's of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion. He has served as Pastor/Theologian at the Center of Theological Inquiry at Princeton and is a mentor-pastor in the "Excellence from the Start" program for new pastors offered through the Office of Theology and Worship.

Facilitator will be the Reverend Kent Winters-Hazelton, pastor of Claremont Presbyterian Church, Claremont, CA. Winters-Hazelton is lead strategist and member-at-large of the Executive Committee of the Witherspoon Society.

The cost for the event is $20 including dinner.

This blog seeks to glorify God through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and thoughtful community.
