Covenant Network Welcomes
Executive Presbyters' Call to the Church
113 Executive and General Presbyters have released a
Call to the Church to seek a "third way" that does not create
"winners and losers," but works to realize the peace, unity
and purity of the church "as we all gather around God's Table in
communion as sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus." This third way,
they say, "cannot be dictated by deadlines. The direction we seek
will not come by judicial or legislative actions."
Laird J. Stuart and Deborah A. Block, Co-Moderators of
the Covenant Network and active participants in the dialogues commended
in the Presbyters' Call to the Church, welcomed the Presbyters'
initiative with the following statement:
"We welcome the recent Call to the Church from
more than 100 Executive Presbyters, covenanting to study, talk, and pray
together seeking the mind of Christ for our beloved church. We know from
our own experience that the Spirit and the Word can bring new insights
and new commitments to the body of Christ as we engage in honest and
searching dialogue with our colleagues in ministry.
"These conversations, around common tables and
across perceived divisions, can happen most easily within our local
presbyteries. We pledge ourselves and our colleagues in Covenant Network
to support the efforts envisioned in the Presbyters' Call."

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
